Synopsis

Inside a frigid and oppressive house, a young couple lives through a difficult period of incommunicability.

Neither of them suspects that deep inside the other lies a heavy burden, the same painful secret that haunts them both.

A hamster.

Or rather, two hamsters.

Director statement

L'Amore Ci Dividerà combines live action and animation, bringing together two very different cinematic languages within the same story.

The film begins as an intimate portrait of a couple struggling with silence, routine and the inability to communicate. At the same time, it gradually opens the door to a more imaginative dimension, where animation and comedy coexist with the realism of the narrative.

My interest was not simply to alternate reality and fantasy, but to allow these two dimensions to coexist within the same world. Live action reveals the fragility of the characters and their relationships, while animation makes visible what would otherwise remain hidden.

Through this contrast between the ordinary and the fantastic, the film explores communication, loneliness and the difficulty of sharing with others what makes us vulnerable.
